Sweet smooth electric jazz from Jack Daugherty – a nice little indie set from the Monterey scene, a surprisingly nice setting for California jazz in the 70s! The best stuff has the sort of funky edge that crept into a few of these sort of fusion efforts, with a vaguely soundtrack-y feel throughout, and some nicely crafted larger ensemble passages that are broken up by standout solos. Tom Scott's on tenor, and he gets in some nice solos on the funky cuts – which include "When's it Gonna Hit", "Wild Turkey", and "King Pong".
